Non-Fiction Comics Festival Policies
SAFE SPACES:
NFCF is a safe, harassment-free space for all exhibitors and attendees. The Non-Fiction Comics Fest does not discriminate nor tolerate discrimination based on a person’s race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, body size, disability, physical appearance, religion, age, marital status, parental or pregnancy status, military discharge status, or source of income.
Violent, threatening, abusive, discriminatory or harassing language or conduct of any kind is not allowed. Disruptive or intrusive behaviour is not allowed in physical or digital spaces.
Harassment during the event is strictly prohibited and includes but is not limited to:
Making unwanted and/or discriminatory advances
Intimidation
Stalking
Harassing photography or recording
Sustained disruption of events
Inappropriate physical contact
Unwelcomed sexual attention
Verbal or physical conduct of a discriminatory nature
Creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment by engaging in such conduct
NFCF reserves the right to revoke and expel anyone from the event who is exhibiting harassing or discriminatory behavior, including selling, displaying, or distributing content that is considered to be harassing or discriminatory in nature. As the Non-Fiction Comics Fest is held within a public library, all attendees are required to abide by the Fletcher Free Library’s policies and rules as ordinated by Burlington City code. Failure to comply with NFCF’s policies or with reasonable requests from library staff may result in further library restrictions.
If you feel there is someone at this event who is violating these policies, please bring this to the attention of the NFCF staff, a Vermont Folklife staff member, an NFCF volunteer, or a member of the library staff immediately. For further questions, please reach out to nfcf@vtfolklife.org.
AI & PLAGIARISM:
NFCF values and celebrates the integrity of artistic work and aims to center an artist’s rights to distribute, display, and sell their own art on their terms. As a consequence, work that has been either partially or wholly created with the use of generative AI is strictly forbidden at this event. NFCF recognizes the unethical use of AI training models scraping artists’ work without their consent and prohibits content displayed or sold that utilize said tools for all visual and written media. Using this event to sell NFTs is also prohibited.
Exhibitors found violating this policy at NFCF will be asked to leave and will forfeit their exhibitor status and table fee. Repeated failure to comply will result in banishment from applying to future events.
If you have questions about these policies with regards to work you intend to display or sell at NFCF, please reach out to nfcf@vtfolklife.org.
